Effingham County 911 Board members Tuesday re-elected its officers for 2024.

Those officers include County Board Vice-Chairman Dave Campbell as chairman, Sheriff Paul Kuhns as vice-chairman, and Public Member Jake Buhnerkempe as Treasurer.

The Board also decided to continue on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at noon, and committee assignments will remain unchanged.

Board members discussed whether changes need to be made to the 911 website. The County is getting a website update, so the 911 website came up at the meeting. The consensus was to maintain the 911 site as is.

The long-awaited generator for 911 is expected to arrive soon, so members decided to auction off the existing unit. There was also discussion of lease agreements on the network of towers under development around the county. It was decided to wait until the equipment arrives before acquiring liability for the items. Members also heard that the insurance has paid on damage done by a lightning strike earlier this year.
