Dieterich school board members Monday heard that the district's classroom addition and restroom renovation project is nearing completion.

The project is running well ahead of schedule. The restrooms are complete and are in full operation. The District has already started to occupy the completed classrooms. The Kindergarten classes will be dividing into three sections and will occupy the new classrooms starting upon the return to school in January. Science courses have been moved into the new science lab, and high school Math has also occupied new space. The remaining space will be occupied according to the Facility Use Plan at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year.

Bill Fritcher and Misty Lindeman from OPAA! Food Management were on hand to provide updated information on the food service program at Dieterich schools.

The Board passed the fiscal year tax levy, and also renewed membership in the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce and the Association of Illinois Rural and Small Schools.

Board members reviewed the summary of the goal-setting session held earlier this month. The main areas of concentration were Student Achievement, Programs and Curriculum, Facilities, Communications and Community Relations.

In personnel moves, the Dieterich board accepted resignations from Sara Dust as an aide and from Colton Booher as head high school baseball coach, and approved the retirement of high school Science teacher Bryan McMillan, effective immediately. The Board also hired Carsen Funneman as high school girls JV basketball coach for this school year and hired Clayton Campton as head high school baseball coach.
