A local man was injured in a Friday evening crash northwest of Effingham.

The crash happened at 6:34pm on Illinois Routes 32/33 at Nazarene Road. The Effingham County Sheriff's Office reported a car driven by 52-year-old William Dockery of Effingham was traveling on the highway into town with its lights off. Meanwhile, a SUV driven by 51-year-old Jason Myers of Effingham was turning off the highway onto Nazarene Road. Dockery's car ran off the highway to the south, just west of Nazarene Road. Dockery's car then came up onto Nazarene Road, striking Myers' vehicle in its right fender. Dockery's car then continued east off the roadway and into the ditch.

Dockery was injured and was airlifted out for treatment.

Dockery was cited for improper lane usage, failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash, operating an uninsured vehicle, and improper lighting.
