(DONALD TRUMP, JR.)

Donald Trump, Jr. offered a spirited defense of his father during a speech in Effingham Friday night, but also reminded those present of the accomplishments of the 45th President.

Trump said his father's one offense was taking on the Washington establishment, and said that was an offense to both Democrats and Republicans entrenched in the federal government.

Trump Jr. said, "It's not a fair fight...it's not our ideas against their ideas, it's our ideas against the billion dollar social media machine." He also addressed the economy, saying, "I'm the son of a billionaire from New York and if I'm (upset) about going to the grocery store, what is it doing to the average American?"

Trump didn't spare the Republicans criticism, saying, "It's an easy life for a Republican in Washington...if you're a weakling." He added that he wants his five children "to grow up in a country we recognize."

(BAILEY)

The event featured State Representatives Chris Miller, Blaine Wilhour and Adam Niemerg, but the event was held on behalf of recent Republican gubernatorial nominee Darren Bailey. Bailey is seeking the Republican nomination for the 12th District Congressional seat now held by Mike Bost. Bailey was critical of Bost, saying he is a career politician who wants to preserve the status quo in Washington. Bailey said, "We need to send a powerful message to career politicians that the only ticket they will be a part of is a ticket home."
