A Clay County teenager was killed in a crash Sunday morning in Washington County.

Robert Trevor Green, 17 of Flora, was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:23 am by Washington County Coroner Mark Styninger. Green was the driver of a car traveling north on Illinois Route 127 when it left the roadway and proceeded on the west side of the guard rail before becoming airborne when it reached Locust Creek and struck the north side of the creek embankment.

Green was extricated from the vehicle by the Nashville Fire Department. A male passenger identified as Green's cousin Austin Reid, was transported from the scene to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.

Flora High School has announced that grief counselors will be available for students to talk anytime throughout the day today.

An Illinois State Police Accident Reconstruction unit responded to the scene as well. Other agencies at the scene were the Washington County Ambulance Service, Washington County Sheriff’s Department, Nashville Fire Department, Washington County EMA and the Washington County Coroner.
