A rural Farina man has been arrested on a charge of production of cannabis.

13 plants, all about 13 feet tall, were found by the Marion County Sheriff's Office growing near the garage of the Chris Kessler home. Deputies were first alerted by a motorist who noted the smell of cannabis. When arriving at the scene, deputies reported the plants were in plain view near the garage of the 64-year-old Kessler's home.

Reportedly, the plants were so large, deputies had to use an axe to destroy them.

Kessler was given a notice to appear in court.
