Both drivers were injured when their vehicles collided just before 6am Tuesday at the junction of Illinois Routes 32 and 33, northwest of Effingham.

The Effingham County Sheriff's Office reported a SUV driven by 31-year-old Christina Williams of Stewardson was stopped on Route 32 at the intersection while a SUV driven by 27-year-old Blaine Koester of Shumway was traveling westbound on Route 33. Deputies say Williams pulled out in front of Koester.

Koester's vehicle struck the Williams vehicle, causing the Williams vehicle to become engulfed in flames. Koester ended up west of the intersection in the ditch.

Both Williams and Koester were taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment.

Williams was cited for failure to yield when turning left.
