Dollar General Store in Altamont Remains Closed

The Dollar General store in Altamont remains closed, apparently due to structural concerns.

We've not been able to contact Dollar General, but have checked with Effingham County Health Department and with Altamont city officials as to the situation.

The understanding is that water has gotten inside the building and that roof repairs are needed.

The store, located on the south end of Altamont, has been closed for more than two weeks.
