Altamont City Council Monday finalized two projects to improve Gilbert Park.

The Council agreed to pay the balance of the cost of $27,757 for playground equipment at the park, replacing a metal slide and a wooden piece of playground equipment. The estate of the late Jim Stice will pay $10,000 of the cost and the FIELD group donated $5,000.

The Council also approved the scope of a project with FIELD to construct vinyl fencing on the west side of Gilbert Park to replace chain link fence, with FIELD doing the work at no cost to the City.

Council members agreed to allocate TIF dollars for exterior painting and driveway sealing and marking at Relax Inn on the south end of Altamont. The City will pay 50% of the project cost, up to $5,000.

Also approved was paying the balance of the early retirement incentive for past city employees Terry Hahn and Doug Holman, totaling $216,923. The Council also voted to waive competitive bidding on the purchase of a remote monitoring system earlier this month.
