Fatal House Fire Near St. Elmo Thursday Morning

A St. Elmo man was fatally injured in a mobile home fire Thursday morning.

Fayette County Coroner David Harris said 64-year-old Larry D. Reed was staying in the mobile home owned by his brother when the unit caught on fire, north of St. Elmo. Harris said the investigation into Reed's death and the cause of the fire is ongoing.

The Fayette County Coroner's Office, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, the Illinois State Fire Marshal's Office, and fire departments from St. Elmo, Altamont, Brownstown and St. Peter all assisted at the scene.
