Effingham Park Board commissioners heard a good review of the 2023 Ham City Jam Wednesday.

The skateboard competition at Hendelmeyer Park drew about 150 skaters this year. As reported in our earlier story on the competition, there was a large number of exhibitors, fans and fun. Skateboard enthusiast Deano Tull puts the event together annually to promote skating generally and to attract new skaters and investors in the cost of an expansion of the skate center at Hendelmeyer Park.

Park District Director Jeff Althoff reported that the Kluthe Memorial Pool will close for the season on Saturday, August 13th. Althoff said college students working at the pool will be headed back to school, limiting the number of available workers.

The Board approved a revised annexation ordinance for property at Rickelman and 4th. The revision was needed to correct an address, as the District received incorrect information.

A representative from Rink Management reported that membership at the Richard E. Workman Sports and Wellness Center is up slightly, and Althoff shared that work is underway to get ready for Fall Soccer and Flag Football leagues.
