Participation in this year's Summer Reading Program at Suzette Brumleve Memorial Effingham Public Library exceeded every goal.

Library Director Amanda McKay said final numbers are not quite in, but 1,700 registered for the program. That's well above the goal of 1,100.

1,200 of those who registered participated in at least the first week of the program. That's 71% of those who registered, which is above the participation goal of 65%.

As of shortly before the completion of the program, more than 800 people had reached completion, which is ahead of the 700-person goal.

The final figures should be in soon.
