An Effingham resident charged with criminal offenses in Jasper County has agreed to participate in the Illinois' Offender Initiative Program. If she successfully completes the program, the charges would be dismissed.

31-year-old Hillary Robertson agreed in Jasper County Circuit Court to participate in the program. Robertson had been charged by the Illinois Attorney General's Office with creating false records and billing the State for more than $10,000 of work she had not done. Robertson was charged by the Illinois Attorney General's Office in October, and could have faced prison time.

Under the agreement, Robertson, who was employed by the Jasper County Health Department when the offenses occurred, will make restitution of the funds involved and will pay a fine. The case will be up for review in November and again in May of 2024.
