Deputy Riley Among Those Honored w/Law Enforcement Medal of Honor

Wayne County Sheriff's Deputy Sean Riley was honored Wednesday with an Illinois Law Enforcement Medal of Honor.

Riley was shot to death at the end of 2021 during a motorist assist along I-64. Ray Tate pleaded guilty to Riley's murder and is serving a life sentence.

The Law Enforcement Medal of Honor Committee awarded 136 officers from 41 agencies the Medal of Honor. The Law Enforcement Medal of Honor Committee was established in 1990. Wednesday's ceremony was the first held since 2016.
