Lake Sara's Blessing of the Fleet took place Sunday afternoon with Rev. Jim Wright of Immanuel Lutheran Church as officiant.

Rev. Wright sang the Navy Hymn and prayed for the safety of all those who work and recreate on-and-about the lake's waters. Recently graduated EHS senior Corinne Hartman trumpeted the National Anthem from a swaying boat dock during the ceremony, followed by the sounding of boat horns.

As Corinne played, patrons from The Rusty Reel and Pinky's joined in standing at respectful attention. About a dozen vessels then were individually introduced and proceeded forward to the Public Beach Dock to receive the blessing offered by Rev. Wright, who sprinkled water from a green vine onto each boat.

Organizer Scott Ealy said, "We hope to make the Blessing of the Fleet an annual occurrence out on the lake, if possible! We wish that more of you had been able to be in attendance, but we understand that this is a crazy busy time of year!"
