Altamont school board members reorganized Monday in the aftermath of the April election.

Re-elected board members sworn in are Chris Guse, Dane Milleville and Martin Reyes, while new members sworn in are Alanzo Shoaf, Robert Roedl and Derek Bowman.

The Board also chose officers for the next term. Dale Laue was elected as president, Dane Milleville as vice president, and Chris Guse as secretary.

In personnel moves, Jasper County Athletic Director Craig Carr was named Altamont's varsity girls basketball coach. Carr, who is retiring from his other duties, succeeds Katie Lurkins, Altamont's Athletic Director. The Board also accepted resignations from Logan Hill as assistant high school boys basketball coach, Jenna Funneman as grade school Special Education teacher, and Bethany Theis as a paraprofessional at the grade school. Kendyl Schultz was approved as a high school volunteer coach for cheerleading. Those employed included Drevonte Hill as first assistant basketball coach, Elizabeth Chambers as an elementary teacher, Klaiton Wolff as junior high baseball coach, and Gabe Eaton as custodial summer help.

Altamont board members also discussed an amended budget for the current fiscal year with a public hearing on the measure at the next meeting, and approved updates to the athletic, high school and grade school handbooks.

The Board approved high school registration fee structure changes, awarded an asbestos abatement bid to American Asbestos Abatement, approved overnight trip requests for FFA to the state convention in Springfield and for Student Council to Collinsville, and approved an early graduation request for a student.
