Area Man Charged in Altercation Involving Stabbing

Effingham City Police are investigating an altercation Friday night in which a person was stabbed.

Effingham Police Chief Jason McFarland said the incident occurred about 11pm along Jefferson Avenue.

An arrest was made in the incident. 27-year-old Tristan S. Durre of Beecher City has been charged with counts of aggravated battery involving use of a deadly weapon and aggravated battery involving great bodily harm. Bond was set Monday for Durre at $150,000. Bond was posted that same day.

Durre is due in court for his first appearance with counsel on May 24.

The name of the person stabbed was not released by police. McFarland said an investigation into the incident continues.
