Tim Ellis was appointed Monday to fill a vacancy on the Effingham County Board. The vote by the Board to choose Ellis was unanimous.

Ellis succeeds Jeremy Kyle to serve on the Board from District C. Kyle resigned from the Board due to a move outside District C.

Ellis has been a fulltime resident of the county since 2011, and is employed at Heartland Dental. He is the husband of Jamie Stang-Ellis, local artist and owner of Stang ARTs. He said this is his first venture into public office, and said his main goal is making sure the residents of his district are well-represented.

Ellis was also named to the committees on which Kyle served...Roads and Bridges, Buildings and Grounds, and Health and Insurance.

The Board also named Norbert Soltwedel to serve as vice-chairman on the Health and Insurance Committee, replacing Kyle as vice-chairman.
