Stew-Stras School Board Retains Smith as Boys Coach

Stewardson-Strasburg school board members seated its newly-elected board members and chose its officers at their April 26 meeting.

The Board approved asphalt improvement for seal coating and striping; awarded a fuel bid to The Equity; authorized the start of work on a budget for the coming fiscal year; awarded a milk bid to Prairie Farms; amended the school year's calendar; approved membership for the coming school year in the IHSA and IESA; approved the student handbook for the coming school year; approved non-certified wages for the coming school year; and heard about the junior high Scholar Bowl winning the NTC Tournament and finishing second in the regionals.

In personnel moves, the Stew-Stras board accepted the resignation of Hannah Kreke and Grace Schuler; hired Carrie Althoff as special ed teacher, Kristina Moore as high school secretary, hired Annie Smith as special ed paraprofessional and AD secretary, and assigned these coaches: Brian Lee as junior high head girls basketball coach, Katrina Davis as junior high assistant girls basketball coach, Nikki Worman as junior high boys basketball coach, Chance Robertson as junior high assistant boys basketball coach, Shane Smith as varsity boys basketball coach, and Mitch Martin as JV boys basketball coach.
