There were 3.7 days suitable for fieldwork in the week ending April 23, 2023.

Statewide, the average temperature was 50.9 degrees, 4.1 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 0.66 inches; 0.25 inches below normal.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 1 percent very short, 7 percent short, 66 percent adequate, and 26 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 1 percent very short, 9 percent short, 71 percent adequate, and 19 percent surplus.

Corn planted reached 18 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 11 percent.

Soybeans planted reached 15 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 6 percent.

Winter wheat headed reached 7 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 6 percent. Winter wheat condition was 1 percent very poor, 3 percent poor, 18 percent fair, 65 percent good, and 13 percent excellent.
