The Lake Land College Board of Trustees finalized the purchase of Patterson Technology Center in Effingham at this week's meeting.

The purchase price is $15.5 million.

The building will house Lake Land's operation that is now housed at the Kluthe Center for Higher Education and Technology, and the Effingham Regional Career Academy that was to be built south of the Kluthe Center.

As a part of the transaction, Patterson will lease the lower level of the building to maintain their Effingham operation, with the possibility of expanding their local operation.

At a press conference, Patterson officials explained that many of their local employees have chosen the option of working remotely, which left much of their building unoccupied. As a result, it was a fit for Lake Land operations.
