North Clay school board members had a busy meeting this week.

The Board renewed membership in the IHSA for next school year, and renewed an agreement with SEPCO for group purchases of commodities. HVAC and roofing bids were approved, as well, along the calendar for the coming school year.

The Board approved a high school softball co-op agreement with Clay City for the coming two school years with North Clay as the host, and a high school volleyball co-op agreement with Clay City for the coming two school years with North Clay as the host. There was further discussion of future building plans, based on the community listening sessions held recently, but no action was taken.

The North Clay board acted on many personnel items.

It was decided to post the high school softball head coach and assistant coach positions for the coming school year, and to post for a high school fresh-soph volleyball coach for the coming school year. A resolution was approved to non-reemploy a non-tenured teacher, not in their final year of probationary teaching service, for the coming school year. The Board voted to accept the resignation of Mike Owens as junior high assistant baseball coach, and to hire him as head junior high baseball coach for the coming school year. It was decided to hire Callaway Campton as high school volunteer track coach for this school year, to accept the resignation of Mike Bailey as high school fresh-soph basketball coach, to hire Gracey Himelick as an elementary teacher for the coming school year, and to authorize the administration to hire an elementary teacher and an Art teacher for the coming school year. It was decided to hire Kim Harrison as a volunteer assistant junior high girls track coach for this season, to post a summer custodial job with a 300-hour limit, and to accept the resignation of Barry Adair as head high school girls basketball coach and retain him as a volunteer assistant. Adair, who is on the school board, abstained from the vote.
