Jury selection was completed Tuesday and opening statements will be offered Wednesday in the trial of an Altamont man accused of attempted murder in Edwards County.

42-year-old Sean Curtiss is charged in the shooting of a Carmi woman during an altercation at a remote Edwards County location. Curtiss is charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery with a firearm, both Class X Felonies, as well as with aggravated discharge of a firearm, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The victim of the shooting, Malinda Williams, told authorities she sustained wounds to the leg, side and chest. She has since recovered from her wounds.

Curtiss is being held under $1 million bond. If convicted of the most serious charges, he could face up to 30 years in prison.
