Early voting for the April 4 election will begin this week.

Effingham County Clerk Michelle Kollmann said that voters can cast a ballot for the election beginning Thursday, February 23.

Kollmann said early voting will be conducted in the Benwood Conference Room, first floor, of the Effingham County Office Building at 101 North 4th Street in Effingham.

Illinois State Statutes prohibit a person who voted during early voting from voting at the polls on Election Day. The votes cast during the early voting time period will not be tabulated until after the polls close on Election Day.

For the April 4 Consolidated Election, early voting will be conducted from Thursday, February 23 through Monday, April 3 between 8am and 4pm, and on Saturday, April 1, from 8am to 12 noon.
