Indiana Man Killed in Fayette County Crash

An Indiana man was fatally injured in a crash in Fayette County Tuesday afternoon.

Fayette County Coroner David Harris said 52-year-old James E. Krieger of Batesville, Indiana, was traveling in his pickup truck on Interstate 70, a mile west of Vandalia, when the truck struck the rear of a semi trailer. Harris pronounced Krieger dead at the scene of the crash.

An investigation continues into the crash by the Fayette County Coroner's Office and the Illinois State Police.

Harris also took to task some individuals who took photos of the crash scene and posted them on social media long before Krieger's family could have been notified of his death. Harris asked for some consideration of those who might have seen the crash photos before they were notified.
