Evergreen Bark Park in Effingham is Now Open

Effingham Park Board commissioners learned this week that Evergreen Bark Park is open.

The dog park is located north of Evergreen Hollow Park and east of Workman Sports and Wellness Complex. 

Park District Director Jeff Althoff told the Park Board that the fencing for the dog park is in place, but some groundwork still needs to be completed. Drinking fountains will also be installed for the dogs who utilize the park, but the dog park is in operation.

Althoff said once the dog park is finished, work will begin on the expansion of the skate park at Hendelmeyer Park. He also reported that crews are shingling roofs on pavilions, and that work will begin soon on ordering spring supplies and equipment.

Althoff shared that there are 200 new members at Workman Sports and Wellness Complex.

Following a closed session, the Park Board granted 5% pay increases to all fulltime Park District employees. Althoff said they're trying to remain competitive.
