(FINAL UPDATE) Crash Near Dutch Lane Friday Evening

Illinois State Police have released updated information on a crash that occurred Friday evening on US Route 45 at Dutch Lane, south of Effingham.

The crash happened at 6:04pm. Police report that a vehicle driven by 57-year-old Rosemarie J. Marengo of Effingham attempted to turn left off of Dutch Lane onto the highway. Marengo turned into the path of a vehicle traveling south on the highway driven by 47-year-old Kevin Reed of Watson. Reed's vehicle struck the driver's side of the Marengo vehicle. 

Marengo was hospitalized for treatment of serious injuries. Two of four juveniles traveling in the Marengo vehicle were taken for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The injured juveniles traveling with Marengo were identified by police as a 10-year-old girl from Effingham and a seven-year-old boy from Effingham. The other two juveniles traveling with Marengo were idenfitied as a five-year-old boy from Effingham and a four-year-old boy from Effingham, and were not injured. Reed was injured and was hospitalized for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
