Filings for various elective offices were increasing as today's deadline approaches.

Candidates have until 5pm to file. As of 2:30pm, three more people had filed for Effingham Unit 40 school board. They are Scott Volpi, Cary Harper and Andrew Altman. All three are Unit 40 alumni. Altman would be a third generation Board member, following his grandfather Bill and his father Galen.

The last two incumbent Effingham City Council members have filed; commissioners Merv Gillenwater and Libby Moeller, so all five incumbents are seeking re-election along with at least one newcomer.

In Altamont, Todd Slingerland, an incumbent Commissioner, has filed for Mayor. That means two of the current commissioners are running for Altamont mayor, Slingerland and Dan Milleville.

In Altamont Unit 10, Chris Guse has filed as has Robert Roedl, and Alonzo Shoaf has filed for an unexpired two-year term.

In Beecher City Unit 20, Aaron Summers filed for a full term, and Christopher Doedtman has filed for a two-year unexpired term.

In Dieterich Unit 30, Marvin Iffert has filed for the Board.

In Teutopolis Unit 50, Cari Buehnerkemper, Scott Copple and Edward Siemer have filed for full terms, and Kari Thompson has filed for a two-year unexpired term.

There's also an additional filer for the Lake Land College Board of Trustees. Mike Sullivan of Mattoon has filed for another term, meaning all three incumbents are seeking re-election.

A third person has filed for the Effingham Park Board. Matt Dasenbrock has filed, joining incumbent Russ Sehy and newcomer David E. Dust.

We will have the full list of filers in Tuesday's news.
