Effingham Water Authority trustees were updated at this month's meeting on an ongoing dispute over repairs to a house on Court Six at Lake Sara.

Water Authority Attorney Tony Siemer reported that he had been in contact with the attorney for the lessee of the lot. Siemer said there is a possibility that the Water Authority would be given an agreement to do needed repairs and place a lien on the house to be reimbursed for the cost of the work.

Don Borries spoke to trustees seeking clarification on first right of refusal. Borries said the property adjoining his land was sold and he did not receive notification. The property in question was sold by the subdivider and Borries said no adjoining letters were required for first sale of the lot. Borries also wanted to know whether there were restrictions on the residential lots and whether a motocross track was allowed.

There was also discussion regarding storm water runoff, the Illinois watershed, the EPA, caretaking for the lake and water quality. Grade and elevation of property for new construction was also discussed.

Lake Superintendent Mike Dirks reported that leaf pickup is ongoing. Dirks said they are having issues with the leaf vac and that they are picking up leaves, just at a slower pace.

Parks and Rec Committee Chairman Tom Ryan reported on a meeting with Farnsworth Group, the architect on the beach renovation project. Ryan said they will be meeting with manufacturing firms regarding a fitness center in December. He said the plan is to have the next phase of the work started late in the first quarter of 2023.

Friends of Lake Sara head Doug Thies said the fireworks fund is strong and that they are excited with the new people who are chairing the fireworks committee.
