Effingham Noon Rotarians were updated on one of the longest-awaited roadway reconstruction projects in Effingham at their meeting on November 2.

The project is the upcoming rebuilding of Fayette Avenue. The work will extend from Illini Drive on the west to Long Street on the east. The west portion of the project to the Fayette underpass at Banker Street will be undertaken first, then the east portion of the project.

Greg Jamerson of the Illinois Department of Transportation in Effingham was the program presenter as the guest of Rotary weekly program chairman Larry Waldhoff. Jamerson said building could start coming down on the south side of Fayette for the project as soon as April or May. The project will take several years to complete.
