Teutopolis village board members Wednesday approved modified local incentives and property tax abatements for the Effingham/Effingham County Enterprise Zone.

The modifications include a residential abatement for new home construction and apartment construction in the Zone as well as exemption of sales tax on building materials purchased for qualifying projects.

The Effingham City Council also approved the changes Tuesday, after the Effingham County Board voted against the changes Monday.

The Teutopolis Board amended its ordinance regarding golf carts and recreational off-highway vehicles. The units can now legally cross Main Street at any four-way intersection. It was also agreed that on Trick or Treat Night in Teutopolis, the vehicles can be used until 9pm.

The Board heard from Lori Runde about a request to extend sidewalks along the south side of Main Street from the east edge of the village to Farmweld Avenue. Farmweld is offering to contribute $15,000 toward the cost of the work. Board members also amended a TIF redevelopment agreement with SRMD to have their project completed by June 30, 2023.

The Board discussed a subdivision plat at 14240 North 1600th Street, and also discussed changes in ordinance regulating swimming pools and solar energy systems, but there was no action on any of those items.
