An arrest has been made in connection with burglaries at two homes along Evergreen Avenue in Effingham early this morning.

Four vehicles and a lawn mower were among the items taken from the two homes. The first incident was reported just before 6:30am at the home of Mike and Kathy Nolan. The residence to the east was also burglarized.

Effingham City Police Deputy Chief Kurt Davis said authorities have responded quickly and well, saying that at least 95% of the items stolen have been recovered. Three of the vehicles were found a short distance to the west in Evergreen Hollow Park. The fourth vehicle was found in a rural part of the county and Davis said the driver has been arrested.

No one was injured in the incident. Davis said city police were assisted by Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services, Effingham County Sheriff's Department, and Jasper County Sheriff's Department.

Davis encourages residents to always keep your doors locked. He said there is no reason at this point to suspect further related incidents will occur.
