In these days of heavy rainfall and rapidly-rising creeks and streams, the Effingham County Dive-Rescue Team is asking for people to use extreme caution in rural areas.

Dive Team Commander Terry Trueblood said that one of the problems is that the dive teams in the area are short-handed. Trueblood said that if there is a water rescue required elsewhere, there might not be enough rescuers available to answer those calls in order to make sure there are enough forces available to guard their own area.

Trueblood reminds motorists never to drive onto flood-covered roadways.
