Testimony Underway in Hubbard Trial

Testimony is underway in the trial of Effingham resident Martin Hubbard.

The 67-year-old Hubbard is charged with predatory criminal sexual assault of a child under age 13. Hubbard is charged with improper touches in the summer of 2021 involving four boys who were staying at the day care center his wife and he operated.

The defense contends that the allegations are part of a "concerted effort to turn this into a criminal matter" and "concerned adults sexualizing non-sexual activities". 

More than a dozen witnesses are expected to testify during the course of the trial.
