Truck and SUV Collided South of Effingham

A truck and SUV collided early Monday morning on I-57 northbound, seven miles south of Effingham.

Illinois State Police were notified appoximately 4:30am. The truck was driven by 52-year-old Ebrahim Sarhan of Houston, Texas, while the SUV was driven by 63-year-old Luz Davila of Chicago. 

Police say both units were traveling northbound when Sarhan rear-ended the Davila vehicle. Davila's vehicle left the roadway to the right and overturned several times before coming to rest in the right ditch. Sarhan's truck crossed the left lane and came to rest in the median.

Davila and her passenger, 67-year-old Hector Davila of Chicago, were both injured and were taken for treatment. Sarhan reported no injuries. 

Sarhan was cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
