Brownstown School Board Acts on Various Items

Brownstown school board members addressed a number of issues at this week's meeting.
The Board:
--approved Egyptian Trust as insurance carrier for employee health
--approved busing of students in hazardous areas
--okayed substitute pay rates
--approved athletic fees
--awarded the Southeast Purchasing Co-op bid
--set lunch prices
--designated Brownstown High School as a foreign exchange host school
--approved the district handbook, the Brownstown/St. Elmo coaches handbook, the Brownstown/St. Elmo cooperative athletic handbook, and the junior/senior high school and elementary school student and teacher handbooks
--approved the district wellness policy
--approved participation in the CEP lunch program
--okayed the resignations of Thomas Hartnagel as high school Science teacher and Steve Waltrip as maintenance and custodian worker
--approved course curriculum and materials for a hunter safety course
--approved a bus maintenance contract with Ron Zimmer
--authorized Superintendent Mike Shackelford to solicit bids for the construction of a maintenance building
--approved a resolution of intent to issue Working Cash Fund bonds
--approved the final 2021 tax levy and extension
--approved the purchase of two high efficiency tankless water heaters for Brownstown Elementary School
--employed Aaron Miller as junior high baseball head coach
--scheduled a public hearing for August 18 on a tuition waiver application renewal for non-resident students
--scheduled a public hearing on the tentative fiscal year budget on September 19
