Hubbard Trial to Begin July 25

The trial of Effingham resident Martin Hubbard has been confirmed for trial on July 25.

The 67-year-old Hubbard is charged with eight counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child under age 13. Hubbard was arrested in December and has been in custody in Effingham County Jail since that time.

The trial date was confirmed during a pre-trial hearing Thursday. 

Judge Allan Lolie indicated that July 25 will be solely for jury selection, with opening statements scheduled for July 26. 

Hubbard is being held under $800,000 bond.
