Local Man Arrested Twice in 15 Minutes Sunday Night

A local resident was arrested twice in a 15-minute period Sunday night.

Effingham city police report 27-year-old Luke Rieman of Effingham rear-ended a vehicle driven by 21-year-old Madison Buscher of Effingham, causing Buscher's vehicle to rear-end a vehicle driven by 65-year-old Ruth A. Miller of Altamont.

The crash happened at 8:05pm at Keller and Evergreen.

Rieman was cited for DUI, DUI with an alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more, and leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage.

15 minutes later at 8;20pm at 807 South 5th Street, a vehicle driven by Rieman struck and damaged a fence owned by Stephen Merry of Effingham.

Rieman was cited for leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage.

No injuries were reported in either crash.
