Race Across America Could Reach Effingham Tuesday

The 2022 Race Across America could reach Effingham on Tuesday.

Race Across America involves a cross-country bicycle race that began in Oceanside, California on June 14. The race is to reach Annapolis, Maryland on Saturday, June 25. 

Local RAAM organizer Mike Tipton said the first riders are to reach Effingham on Tuesday. Tipton said the riders are traveling on US 40 and wlll head from Vandalia through Effingham, and east on Illinois 33 toward Newton and on to Robinson.

A Time Station will be set up again this year at Effingham High School near the Raney Street overpass. The time station through the years has been allowed to utilize showers and restroom facilities for the riders.
