VW Welcomefest Brought a Crowd Downtown Friday

The Mid-America Motorworks Funfest for Air-Cooled VWs kicked off in downtown Effingham Friday evening with the annual Welcomefest sponsored by the City of Effingham Tourism Office.

Mid-America's Mike and Laurie Yager were out on Jefferson Avenue welcoming the VW owners to the festivities. The Funfest concludes today on the Mid-America campus on North Route 45.

The theme was "Herbie Fully Loaded" to celebrate the 53rd anniversary of the movie. Herbie was well-represented.

In addition to the Love Bug, plenty of VW buses were also on hand.

Baseball fans also showed up.
