The Effingham County Board's Ambulance Oversight Committee Tuesday reviewed 911 calls for the past month with Rural Med Ambulance Service, the county's new 911 emergency service provider.

Rural Med owner Ethan Bouser said there was one call where they needed mutual aid from Lakeside EMS but that enabled the call to be made on time. Bouser said his crew misheard the direction they were to take, but Lakeside was in the area and picked up the call.

Committee Chairman Rob Arnold double checked to make sure that it was not a case of jumping calls, but Bouser said that was not the case.

Committee members received the average time on calls, but asked for the individual times per call and Bouser said they will provide that next month.

Bouser also provided information on how they handle calls, whether crews work patients completely on scene. He responded that they get patients enroute as quickly as possible. He said getting them to the destination sooner means more hands in place to continue treatment.
