Semi, Cycle Involved in Fayette County Crash

A crash involving a motorcycle and a semi occurred Sunday evening in Fayette County.

The crash happened at 6:50pm on I-70 eastbound, west of Vandalia. State police report that the semi driven 60-year-old Robert Heun of San Tan Valley, Arizona suffered a blowout. The blowout caused Heun to lose control of the rig, which crossed the center median and both westbound lanes. The semi continued through a ditch and onto US Route 40. 

The motorcycle rider, 35-year-old Michael Lawrence of O'Fallon, took evasive action and laid the cycle over on its side.

Lawrence was taken by a private vehicle for treatment. Heun was not injured.
