LEOs a Big Part of Strasburg Memorial Day Ceremony

A Memorial Day Ceremony was held in front of the Veterans Memorial in Strasburg on May 30. Speaker Josh Layton, Veterans Service Officer for the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs in Effingham spoke on what Memorial Day means to veterans. Americanism essay winners read their essays, a wreath was place at the Memorial, and a 21-gun salute by members of Strasburg’s Liberty Post #289 and Windsor’s Garret-Baldridge Post #725 American Legion plus Taps were all part of the program.

The event was sponsored by the Strasburg LEO’s. The LEO’s are a high school student organization who are part of the Strasburg Lions Club. The program was planned and implemented by the LEO members.
