Noon Rotary Features Several Guests in Recent Weeks

Effingham Noon Rotary Club has had a variety of guest speakers in recent weeks.

Rotarians got to meet incoming Unit 40 Superintendent Andy Johnson. Johnson will be succeeding retiring superintendent Mark Doan. Johnson is joining Unit 40 after serving the past several years as superintendent of the Jasper Unit 1 School District in Newton. He is also a former Athletic Director and Assistant Principal in the Teutopolis school district. 

Steve Raymond served as weekly program chairman.

Bryan Newswander invited two members of his congregation at Crossroots Church in Effingham to speak at a recent meeting. Lisa Krampe and Charity Bailey are involved in the church's Celebrate Recovery program. Celebrate Recovery is an opportunity dealing with a variety of addictions or other difficulties to find answers through a relationship with Jesus. Celebrate Recovery meets weekly at the church house on South Banker Street.

Rotarians got to hear about the recruiting programs by the US Army from local recruiter S/SGT Christiaan Verschuyl. The sergeant spoke about the Army and what it has to offer those interested in enlisting. Sheila Myers served as Rotary weekly program chairman.

Rotarian Kurt Roberts served as weekly program chairman on May 25. His guest speaker was Amanda Cooper, Director of Adoption Services for Illini Christian Ministries. The agency helps with adoption services.
