Clay County State’s Attorney Phillip Givens has announced that Brian P. Davis, 40, of Fairfield was sentenced Monday to seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the offense of Unlawful Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine, a Class 2 Felony.

The charge alleged that Davis knowingly possessed, with the intent to deliver, less than 5 grams of a substance containing methamphetamine. Davis will be required to serve a period of 1 year of Mandatory Supervised Release once out of prison.

The investigation was conducted by the Illinois State Police Southeastern Illinois Drug Task Force and aided by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and Flora Police Department.

Givens said: “We will continue to work with our agencies to help combat the ever growing Methamphetamine problem we have seen in our community. I want to thank the Southeastern Illinois Drug Task Force, Clay County Sheriff’s Office and Flora Police Department for their hard work.”
