Crash on Funkhouser Road Late Sunday Night

An Effingham man was injured in a crash on Funkhouser Road, a quarter-mile north of US Route 40.

The crash happened at 11:04pm Sunday. Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports a car driven by 24-year-old Jawaun Latham was northbound when Latham lost control of the vehicle. The car ran off the left side of the roadway and struck and broke a utility pole. Deputies say the car overturned multiple times before coming to rest on its top.

Latham was transported to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. 

Latham was cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle, failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash, and operating a vehicle with a suspended registration.
