New Charges for Thomas Miller in Shelby County

A man due to be sentenced later this month for his role in the death of a Shelby County woman in 2021 has now been arrested on new charges.

20-year-old Thomas Miller of Decatur is being held in Shelby County Jail awaiting his sentencing on May 23 on counts of concealment of a homicidal death and unlawful possession of a converted vehicle. 

The new charges stem from an incident in the jail on April 24 where Miller allegedly struck another individual in the head. He faces two counts of aggravated battery that could result in a 10-year prison term if he's convicted.

Miller pleaded guilty to the concealment of a homicidal death and possession of a converted vehicle counts for his role in the death of Sherry Hubbartt of Clarksburg in April of 2021. Hubbartt's grandson, Clayton Anderson of Shelbyville, already pleaded guilty to killing his grandmother and has been sentenced to life in prison.

Bond will be set for Miller on the new charges on Wednesday.
