(A SCENE FROM A PREVIOUS LIGHT THE NIGHT EVENT)

As we approach the end of Child Abuse Prevention Month, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) of Effingham County will hold an event Friday night to heighten awareness of the problem.

Light the Night will involve a lantern trail event on the lawn of the Old Courthouse downtown. You're being asked to walk the lantern trail on the lawn from 7:30 to 9pm to show support for the effort.

You're also being asked to sponsor a lantern in honor of a child that has experienced abuse or neglect in Effingham County in 2021-22. Currently, 100 children have lanterns available to sponsor, at $20/sponsor. You can go to www.casa4change.org to purchase a lantern.

The event will begin at 7:30pm with retired Resident Circuit Judge Kimberly Koester and Judge Jeff DeLong speaking to CASA's accomplishments locally and presenting the  President's Volunteer Service Bronze Award to CASA Volunteer Teresa Wortman of Effingham.
