Crime prevention continues to utilize technology to increase its effectiveness.

One option growing in use is drones.

Effingham City Police Chief Jason McFarland and City Officer Matt Simpson were guests at a recent meeting of the Effingham Noon Rotary Club to discuss how drones are being used in law enforcement.

Simpson displayed how the drones can be utilized, while McFarland shared that not only can drones cover territory in a short amount of time to track a suspect, but they are also used to aid in searches for missing individuals.

Effingham City Administrator and Noon Rotarian Steve Miller served as Rotary weekly program chairman.
