(MIKE McCOLLUM AND COURTNEY COOK)

Effingham Noon Rotarians heard from Courtney Cook on genetic counseling at a recent meeting.

Cook, an Effingham native and Effingham High School graduate, works for a genetic testing lab fulltime, but is expanding her work in genetic counseling.

Cook's focus has been on hereditary cancer pre-dispositions. You can find out more at cookgenetics.com. She said the next closest locations for such services are in St. Louis, Chicago, Indianapolis and Nashville.

Courtney is the daughter of Rick and Vicki Cook. Mike McCollum served as Rotary weekly program chairman.
